Grantwriting

By day, I am a fundraising consultant who offers non-profits a full range of services focused on the grantseeking process, program evaluation and marketing.  Grantwriting is the main service that I provide – the crafting of proposals that maximize an organization’s chances of being funded. I also work with clients to help develop and support in-house grantwriting talent, both through short-term editing projects and longer-term mentorship.

I came to development from a 15-year legal career, most recently as EVP and General Counsel to an internet marketing firm with more than $200 million in annual revenues at its peak. For me, grantwriting was the perfect bridge between legal writing and novel writing, since I believe that grant applications must present the facts in a story arc all their own (set up in the Need section, expanded on in Programs, then brought to its climax in Outcomes and Impact).

In 20 years, the grants I have written have raised more than $49 million (!) for the amazing organizations I am proud to have represented.  Clients for whom I have written winning grants include:

Beit T’Shuvah
Chrysalis
Community Advocates
Daniel Pearl Foundation
The ETTA Center
Global Children’s Organization

Public Interest Pictures
